A solitary strike from Julius Jeremiah in the 11th minute proved to be the difference as Kun Khalifat FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Abubakar Bukola Saraki Ilorin Football Club (ABS Ilorin FC) on Match Day 1 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2024/2025 season.
Jeremiah capitalized on a defensive error by Bala Hassan, slotting the ball past goalkeeper Raphael Warrence to give the hosts a crucial lead.

Despite dominating possession and creating scoring opportunities, ABS Ilorin FC was unable to find the back of the net, leaving them empty-handed at the end of the match.
Coach Sani Sarduana expressed his disappointment with the result. "We were the better side; we were just not lucky enough to get a decent result. We will come back home, correct those lapses, and wait for our visitors (Abakiliki FC) next week."
Mohammed Omeizia, captain of the day, echoed his coach's sentiments. "The result isn't a true reflection of the game; it was a game we should have won with the way we played. We were punished for our mistake from a defensive error and missed too many scoring chances."
Omeizia also felt that his team was denied some clear penalty claims. "I feel we had some decent penalty shouts that the referee waved away. But in all, I am proud of our performance today."
Nigeria National League match week two will see ABS Ilorin FC play host to Abakiliki FC on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex.
