Players and officials of Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC arrived safely in Ilorin on Monday afternoon after being involved in a road accident while returning from their 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) match.
The club's media officer, Tosh Michaels, confirmed the safe arrival of the team in Ilorin on Monday afternoon after they honored their Nigeria National League match in Lagos on Sunday, 2nd February 2025.
The team bus collided with a trailer along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway on their way back to base after their fiery encounter, which they lost 1-0 to Sporting Lagos.
Michaels confirmed that the collision resulted in damage to the team bus and minor injuries to a few players, while narrating how the incident occurred.
"Yes, on our way from Lagos, the team bus collided with a trailer, resulting in damage to the vehicle and minor injuries to a few players and officials," said Tosh Michaels.
He acknowledged the quick intervention of the club’s officials, led by Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, who ensured that the injured were treated medically and provided transportation to move the players from the scene of the incident to Ilorin.
Meanwhile, the players and officials will undergo further medical examinations and will be certified fit and ready for this weekend's game against Solution FC in Ilorin, as confirmed in a press release by the club on Monday afternoon.
"As ABS FC prepares to host Solution FC from Anambra in Ilorin this weekend, the technical crew and medical officials will assess the team’s readiness and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and successful match," the club's statement reads.
Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC, also known as ABS FC, is currently in 9th position in Group B of the NNL table with 6 points from six matches, having lost four and won two of the games played.
