2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup: Enyimba FC winger, Akanni Elijah, excited with team's progress

Enyimba International FC's skillful, mercurial midfielder, Akanni Elijah, said on Tuesday that he was over the moon seeing his team advance to the group stage of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup.


He was equally thrilled about his team’s progression to the lucrative stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Akanni, who was instrumental in the progress of the Aba-based side, expressed his delight with the results over the weekend.


The encounter between Enyimba International and Etoile Filante, played on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, ended in a 0-0 draw.


Recall that the first leg encounter in Bamako also ended in the same scoreline.


After the 0-0 draw in the regulation time of both legs, with nothing separating the two sides, the game went straight to a penalty shootout, which the Aba-based side won 3-2 in a tension-soaked spot kick.


Akanni Elijah, who dazzled in the middle of the park with his skills after being substituted on, couldn't hide his feelings about the victory over their opponents from Burkina Faso.
