The captain of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, the Flying Antelopes, Ugwueze Chinemerem, said on Thursday that he was optimistic about securing a good result ahead of the return leg scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024.
Rangers International FC will be playing at the same facility, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Chinemerem said, “We respect our opponents, but we will do what is necessary, by God’s special grace, on the field of play. We have intensified our training since preparations for the new season began, and with the level of motivation in our team, we are confident of achieving a good result.”
A strong delegation from Rangers International FC of Enugu, consisting of 26 players, coaches, backroom staff, and other top management officials, safely arrived in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. They are preparing for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2024/2025 first leg, first preliminary round fixture against Comoros Islands side, U.S. Zilimadjou, who are hosting the match in Nigeria.

The team has been undergoing intense training for the past three weeks in Enugu under Coach Ilechukwu and his able assistants, and they are eager to face the Comoros league champions, who arrived in the country on Wednesday.
Assistant captain and short-stopper, Opubo Japhet, stated, “I believe we have everything needed to secure a good result on Sunday in Uyo. Although not much is known about our opponents, we respect them as the champions of Comoros, but we have our game plans.”
The match, expected to be entertaining, will take place at the 'Nest of Champions', Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
