As Remo Stars travel to Ilorin for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 5 fixtures, one thing will clearly be on their minds: how to sustain their 100 percent winning record against Kwara United.
The two teams meet for the first time in nearly five months, when the Afonja Warriors defeated the Sky Blue Stars 3-2 at the same venue towards the end of last season.
The Sky Blue Stars secured a vital three points at home against current NPFL champions Rangers International after Raymond Tochukwu scored a screamer to make it 2-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
Meanwhile, Kwara United played to a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Remo Stars have yet to drop points in their last four games against Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, Kano Pillars, and Rangers International, while the Afonja Warriors have yet to win a game this season after losing their first match at home against Niger Tornadoes. They have since played to 1-1 draws against Ikorodu City and Bayelsa United and have an outstanding match against El-Kanemi Warriors.
The Sky Blue Stars will be without Alex Oyowah, who was diagnosed with a muscle laceration and will be out for two weeks. Franck Mawuena will also be unavailable due to his national team invitation to represent the Togolese National Team.
Former players of Kwara United, Jide Fatokun and ThankGod Ikeagwu, will be available for this game, although Jide Fatokun missed the last match due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
