2024 1XBet Cup: Gunners Link FC edge Emaljus FC, to face Bethel FC in final

In a thrilling semifinal clash, Gunners Links FC secured their spot in the final of the 2024 1XBet Cup through a tense penalty shootout victory over Emaljus FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.


The game was tightly contested, with both teams creating chances but unable to break the deadlock as the match finished 0-0 in regular time.


A crucial moment in the game occurred when Gunners Links were awarded a penalty late in the match, giving them a chance to win in regulation time. However, under immense pressure, playmaker Abubakar Kuburat missed the golden opportunity by shooting the ball into the sky, stretching the match into the penalty shootout.


After the match, Gunners Links coach Carika Adefila expressed joy at his team’s performance, stating that they are focused on winning the trophy.

The 2024 1XBet Community Cup started over 10 weeks ago in Lagos and will culminate on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos. The third-place match between Emiloju FC and Emaljus FC is slated for 1 PM, followed by the grand final between Gunners Links FC and FC Bethel at 3 PM.
