Sunshine Stars head coach, Edith Agoye has noted that the team has made 14 new recruitments ahead of the new league season expected to kick off on Sept. 30.
“We retained some of our quality players from last season and we brought in about 14 new players to fortify the team”.He stated
According to the head coach, he said the team brought in players from other NPFL teams which include:
Oduk Osimata from Akwa united
Moses Onome Omoduemuke from Enyimba
Osaboh Osahon from Bayelsa united
Taiwo Abdul Rafiu from Bayelsa United etc.
“We brought in quality players who have proven themselves in the league, we brought in players who are seasoned players, and I can assure you that the players will help push Sunshine to the top four”. Edith Agoye said
The former Shooting Star head coach further stated that it is quite unfortunate that Sunshine Stars will have to undergo another rebuilding process this season, but he shared his optimism saying the work continues for a better team.
“It’s not always easy to build a team from scratch, we did that last year and we are doing it again this year but we believe we will succeed just like last season”. He said
Meanwhile, Edith Agoye made it known that the team’s target for the new league season is to
“Our target is to get the team qualified for the continent. Our Target is to finish in the top three this season, anything below that is not acceptable.” He said
Sunshine Stars will take on newly promoted Kano Pillars in the opening game of the league season at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure on Saturday Sept. 30.
