2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship: Spain, Portugal reach semi-finals
Posted : 09 July 2023
Spain and Portugal have already secured their places in the semi-finals of the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, but the race for the remaining spots is still on. In Group A, Poland will aim to maintain their winning streak as they face Italy, who are eager to recover from a heavy defeat, in a battle for the runners-up position.
Meanwhile, Group A winners Portugal will take on the already-eliminated hosts Malta.
In Group B, Spain has already secured a spot in the last four, but they can secure the top spot with a win against Norway. However, Norway can qualify for the semi-finals if they avoid defeat or if they win their match against Spain. Additionally, if Iceland fails to defeat Greece, Norway will finish at the top of the group.
On Matchday 2, Norway came close to securing their spot in the semi-finals, but a late equalizer from Iceland's Eggert Aron Gudmundsson denied them. Now, Iceland faces a must-win situation against Greece, although their chances of advancing to the semi-finals also depend on Norway's result against Spain.
The final round of matches will determine the complete lineup for the semi-finals, with teams vying for the opportunity to face Spain and Portugal in the next stage of the tournament.
