Bayelsa Queens Football Club played to a 1-1 draw against Rivers Angels Football Club at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, in a MatchDay 5 encounter of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership.
The Prosperity Girls were complacent from the blast of the whistle as the Port Harcourt Girls scored an early goal in the 3rd minute through Monturayo Ezekiel, silencing the home team supporters.
The home team stepped up their game in search of the equalizer, but the defense and the goalkeeper of Rivers Angels thwarted the efforts of the Prosperity Girls, ending the first half one-nil in their favor.
Upon resumption in the second half, Bayelsa Queens looked hungrier, and their pressure on the backline of Rivers Angels paid off when Rose Ekong scored the equalizer in the 55th minute of play.
Speaking after the game in Yenagoa on Wednesday, Technical Adviser of Bayelsa Queens FC, Domo Okara, said, "My girls could have wrapped up the game, but they wasted many goal-scoring opportunities. Don't forget, Rivers Angels are a good side and they disrupted our game plan with their delay tactics when they scored the early goal."
"But I must give kudos to my girls because they never allowed that early goal to demoralize them. We will go back to the drawing board, address all the loopholes witnessed in the match, and be well-prepared for their next game against FC Robo Queens on the 20th of December 2022 in Lagos," Okara added.
