Buoyed by the largesse from the Nasarawa State government, in which the state governor splashed some thousands of dollars on the state football team, Nasarawa Amazons Queens have repaid with an instantly outstanding match against the visiting Nija Ratels.
Nasarawa Amazon continues to make a bold statement in the Nigeria Women's Football League Match Day 9 as they whitewashed Naija Ratels 5-0 in Lafia.
Ojiyovwi Kesiena opened the scoring in the 9th minute when she ran clear off Naija Ratels' defense to slot home the opener after some great work from Mosaku Bisola.
Nasarawa Amazon kept the pressure on their visitors, and it paid off in the 36th minute when Odoh Bibiana flicked her header to Mosaku Bisola, who gracefully nodded the ball in for her team’s second goal as the first half ended.
Naija Ratels FC came out blazing in the second half with some chances but were unable to make them count.
U-20 women team player (Falconets) star Yina Adoo, however, added the third with a well-taken freekick in the 55th minute before two quick goals from Shobowale Olushola (68th) and Ojiyovwi Kesiena (72nd) rounded up a beautiful day in the office for the Lafia-based ladies.
Speaking after the game, Chairperson Nasarawa Amazon disclosed that it was a very tough game despite the scoreline.
“We played against a very good side today, and the scoreline was mind-blowing as our girls made the job easy at the end.”
“I had told His Excellency, Engr Abdullahi Sule, that the girls will make it to the playoffs, and then from there, we will aspire to win the NWFL trophy,” she rounded up.
Nasarawa Amazon will next be guests to Heartland Queens of Owerri on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
