It was a tough day for Heartland Queens on the last day of the regular season as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against topflight newcomers and hosts, Dannaz Ladies.
The match, which took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, saw Heartland Queens dominate the first 45 minutes without finding the back of the net. However, Dannaz Ladies scored two unanswered goals in the second half.
In the absence of their main striker, Mary Lucky, Chinedu Chinaka led the attack for Heartland Queens. Despite their efforts, they were unable to break the deadlock.
Heartland Queens had several chances to score, with Blessing Ekpo and Chinedu Chinaka missing clear opportunities. On the other hand, Dannaz Ladies capitalized on a penalty in the 67th minute, converted by Delight Isaac, who later scored a brace in the 83rd minute.
Heartland Queens made several substitutions in an attempt to turn the game around, but Dannaz Ladies held on to their lead until the final whistle.
Despite the defeat, Heartland Queens had already secured a spot in the Super Six showdown, finishing third in their group behind Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens.
