Niger Tornadoes and Heartland FC have undergone a series of training programmes since the commencement of the first round break ahead of the second stanza of the NPFL.
The acting technical adviser of the Niger Tornadoes, Majin Mohammed, led his team on a friendly tour of Abuja, where they engaged in some test matches and recorded a win, a draw, and one defeat. The Ikon Allah Boys will travel to Katsina to confront the Chanji Boys for the second round curtain raiser.
Elsewhere, Heartland FC thrashed Pakat FC of Owerri 6-1 in a friendly game played at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, with Onyekachi Okafor in devastating form with a hat-trick, while fast-rising Nigeria Nationwide League One side, Ikukuoma FC of Mbaise, were not spared. They were beaten 3-1.
Heartland FC also faced a Nekede-based non-league side, and it was 7-2 at the end of the fixture.
Heartland FC Technical Adviser, Christian Obi, applauded the performance of his new-look team and urged them to maintain the momentum when the second stanza starts to ensure the Owerri side get out of the relegation zone.
