2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 7: Rivers Utd FC faces misfiring Sunshine Stars

In what can be termed as a grudge match, Rivers United FC will, on Match Day 7, face a misfiring Sunshine Stars at Adokiye Aniesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

During the 2022/2023 NPFL abridged league, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the dethroned league champions, Rivers United FC, defeated Sunshine Stars FC 1-0 to secure a place in the Super Six PlayOff.

Subsequently, during the Super Six playoffs in Lagos, the Pride of Rivers once again inflicted another loss on Sunshine Stars as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the second game of the opening matchday, thanks to Chidiebube.

With three wins and three losses in the current 2023/2024 NPFL campaign, the team tutored by Stanley Eguma will be hoping for another win over Sunshine Stars in Port Harcourt.

Sunshine Stars have little to show as they have not been fantastic in away matches; they have yet to earn a point but have dropped points at home against Heartland FC of Owerri on Match Day 3.

In the last five encounters between both clubs, Rivers United FC has won two matches, drawn two, while Sunshine has won against them once.
