2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 6: Remo Stars humiliate Shooting Stars

In the battle of the stars at Ikenne Stadium on Wednesday, Remo Stars FC claimed the bragging rights as they roundly beat the visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan 3-0 in the mid-week Match Day 6 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixtures.

The match result was unexpected, as many pundits had predicted a close contest for the southwest derby, which later turned out to be a whitewash.

However, despite the glaring one-sided goal feast, the match was full of entertaining moments as both teams lived up to expectations.

It was Remo Stars' Ahmed Akinyele who opened the scoring with a fine header in the 24th minute to give Remo Stars an early lead.

The Sky Blue Stars continued to dominate the pace, which led to a penalty being awarded and quickly converted by Alimi Sikiru in the 39th minute.

The technical crew of the Oluyole Warriors made some changes in the second half, but these changes did not make much of an impact as the Gbenga Ogunbote-tutored side took control of the game, while Sikiru Alimi completed his brace at close range to make it the third goal in the 63rd minute.

The distraught fans of the Shooting Stars, however, left the venue before the final whistle, apparently dissatisfied with the poor showing in Ikenne.

With the emphatic win, Remo Stars now occupy the first position with 12 points, having recorded five wins and one loss.
