2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 6: Kwara Utd survives Sporting Lagos FC's scare in a dramatic win

On Wednesday, Kwara United made a spirited comeback from a goal deficit to secure a 2-1 victory over Sporting Lagos at the Ilorin Sports Complex Stadium.

The Tech Boys from Lagos scored the opening goal, which should be considered the fastest goal of the season, in just 59 seconds from the kickoff as Jonathan Alukwu found the back of the net with a brilliant finish inside the box to make it 1-0.

Jonathan Alukwu's goal against Kwara United was his third goal of the season for Sporting Lagos FC.

The Afonja Warriors, however, responded with two goals from Ejeh Isaiah and Ifeanyi Odimmega in the 45th and 85th minutes.

Kwara United's first goal came from a well-taken penalty by Ejeh after a corner kick delivered by Kabir Balogun, which resulted in a good shot by Mohammed Alao. Unfortunately, a Sporting Lagos FC player handled the ball, leading to a penalty being awarded.

The second goal was scored by Odimmega in the 86th minute.

Sporting Lagos FC now occupies the 9th position on the NPFL table, while Kwara United is in the 11th position.
