2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 4: Plateau Utd pip Sunshine Stars by lone goal

Plateau United FC's Albert Hillary proved to be the hero on Sunday as he scored the match winner, with his goal after half an hour ensuring that Plateau United edged Edith Agoye's Sunshine Stars of Akure, 1-0 at the New Jos Stadium on Zaria Road.

The encounter was a must-win for Plateau United after they suffered a 0-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance in Match Day 3 of the 2023/2024 NPFL, played away in Benin.

Plateau United, however, narrowly defeated the less-fancied NPFL returnees, Heartland FC of Owerri, in their Match Day 2 encounter, having shared the spoils at home with a 2-2 draw.

Sunshine Stars needed a win to consolidate their position in the league, having achieved only one victory in the 2023/2024 NPFL season, which included a home draw against Heartland FC of Owerri.
