Sunshine Stars FC will this Sunday host title chasers Remo Stars at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, in a Match Day 37 tie which could potentially be a title decider.

The last home match of this campaign is a must-win for the home team, Sunshine Stars, if they are to compete in the top flight next football season. Therefore, it is inadvertently a make-or-break match for both sides.

The Akure Gunners' Chief Tactician, Kennedy Boboye, is expected to charge his wards and reignite the winning mentality needed to secure maximum points against their solid neighbors.

The visitors, who are second on the league table with 62 points, are two points adrift of league leaders Rangers International FC, and are eyeing a decent result in Akure.

Sunshine Stars FC convincingly defeated Akwa United 2-0 in their last home match, scoring two quick goals in the 74th and 76th minutes.

Sunshine Stars FC is currently occupying the 15th position on the log, having garnered 46 points.

The Akure landlords have a game in hand, a rescheduled tie in Gombe against Doma United, before traveling to Kaduna to face Niger Tornadoes.

Sunshine Stars recorded three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five matches, while Remo Stars are yet to lose in their last five matches, recording three wins and two draws.

Sunshine Stars FC defeated Remo Stars away from home 1-0 on the 9th of August, 2017, with Sikiru Alimi scoring the only goal in the 51st minute. This was the only time Sunshine Stars won against the team away from home.

Remo Stars FC, meanwhile, recorded a win in Akure in the elite league on the 10th of July, 2022. The only goal was scored by former Sunshine Stars midfielder, Dayo Ojo, in the 61st minute.

Both sides have met 9 times, including a friendly game. Sunshine Stars scored 6 goals, while Remo Stars recorded 10.

This season, the visitors recorded a 2-0 home win against Sunshine Stars in Ikenne, with Aniekeme Okon scoring both goals.

Fans of Sunshine Stars are eager to watch an exciting last home derby this season and celebrate a resounding win over the visitors.

The last time Daniel Ogunmodede's tutored side defeated Sunshine Stars FC, the team had Edith Agoye as the head coach. However, Kennedy Boboye is now in charge, bringing a different approach.
