Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin faced a tense battle against Sunshine Stars in their recent match, hoping to secure their first away win of the season. The game, held at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday, May 26, promised an intense showdown between the two sides.


Throughout the match, both teams exerted considerable effort to gain the upper hand, showcasing their tactical prowess and determination to secure victory. However, despite their best efforts, neither team managed to break the deadlock within the regulation 90 minutes.


As the match entered stoppage time, the tension mounted as the officials signaled an additional seven minutes of play. It was during this extended period that Bendel Insurance had a promising counter-attack opportunity, spearheaded by Michael Enaruna, who swiftly connected with Vincent Okeke. Okeke, in turn, set up Divine Nwanchukeu for what seemed like a potential winning goal.


Unfortunately for Insurance, Nwanchukeu's last-grasp effort was thwarted by Sunshine Stars' goalkeeper, Ariyo David, who made a crucial save to deny them victory. Despite the disappointment of missing out on a late winner, Bendel Insurance showed resilience and determination until the final whistle.


Despite their draw, Bendel Insurance remains unbeaten in league matches since their home loss to Niger Tornadoes. Their solid performance has seen them maintain a respectable position on the league table, currently occupying the 10th spot with 46 points.
