In a bid to fire them up for the remaining matches of the 2023/24 NPFL, the management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has dangled improved match bonuses before the players of the Oluyole Warriors.

The Executive Chairman of the club, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, charged the players to go for victories in the remaining fixtures, starting from Tuesday's Matchday 30 tie against Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

While addressing the team after the training session, Honourable Akoro also promised to reward them handsomely if they can win all or at least seven of the remaining fixtures.

"Having fulfilled our promise to pay you double bonuses for recent away wins, I'm here to tell you again that more financial rewards await you if you can win all or seven of the remaining matches.

"I stand here to make these promises on behalf of the Oyo State Government. You just get the job done and get your rewards," stated the 3SC helmsman.

The captain of the team, Malomo Taofeek, while responding on behalf of the players, assured that they will do their best to get the desired results from the remaining nine matches.

Shooting Stars will look to enhance their title ambitions when they play host to Lobi Stars in their league game.

A recent rise sees Shooting Stars head into this game placed sixth, four places behind their visitors.

The Oluyole Warriors are coming from a 2-1 win over Kano Pillars courtesy of goals from Taiye Murtala and Cristian Pyagbara. That was their fifth win in six matches, just the motivation needed before facing the second-placed side Yes Father.

Their run in the last nine matches is only dented by one defeat, a 2-1 away loss to Niger Tornadoes as they have won six of the said nine matches, but it has been better at home in recent outings. Shooting Stars have won all their last five home games, keeping straight clean sheets.

Only defending champions Enyimba have beaten Shooting Stars at home in their last 10 matches. They’ve conceded three goals only in the last 10 home matches.

In the first leg meeting between these two sides, Lobi Stars claimed a 2-1 win. That was their third win in four matches against Shooting Stars.

However, none of those wins came away to Shooting Stars. Lobi Stars actually suffered defeats in their last two matches away to Shooting Stars.

The visitors are going to Ibadan on the back of an important 1-0 home win over champions Enyimba. That was their first win in four matches, and they’ll be looking to build on it.

Their only major concern will be based on their unimpressive away form.

Lobi Stars have no win in the last five away matches. They’ve suffered defeats in seven of their last 10 away matches.

A 2-0 win over Kwara United in January is their only away victory in 10 attempts. Lobi Stars actually failed to score in half of their last 10 away matches, all of which ended in losses.

Head to head:

Shooting Stars SC and Lobi Stars FC have played 17 matches so far. Shooting Stars won 6 direct matches, Lobi Stars won 7 matches, and 4 matches ended in a draw.
