2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 2: Shooting Stars SC Coach alleges poor officiating

As Bendel Insurance claimed the first bragging right over its arch rival, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, the coach of the Oluyole Warriors have claimed a poor officiating.
Shooting Stars SC Coach Gbenga Ogunbote on the sidelines of the fixtures said that the match officiating was below acceptable standard.
``The officiating is not good at morever, my strikers are also wasteful in front of goal.
On the contrary, the Coach of the Benin Arsenal, Monday Odigie said he was happy with the victory but not excited because some of his key players were not available for the game.
``The game was a tough one, but thank God, we won. The side that converted their chances won. We are going back to work on areas we had lapses,'' he said.
Also speaking,the team captain Maurice Prince and the second goal scorer Evans Ogbonda said they were happy to begin with voctory over a stubborn side.
Bendel Insurance FC kick started their 2023/24 NPFL with a bang following a convincing 2-0 victory over arch rivals Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.
Monday Osagie-tutored team got on the score sheet in the early minutes of the game, when Shooting Stars defender Garli Falke, mistakenly scored an own goal as a result of impending pressure by Bendel Insurance strikers.
The defending champions of Federation Cup then continued in high tempo Aftermath of a goal advantage in the remaining part of the half until Tamara Ezikiel got injured out of the midfield.
Bendel Insurance came smoking again in the second half with early attempt to increase the tally but Jude Ebhohon's strike went wide in the 56th minute.
The Gbenga Ogunbote managed Oluyole warriors later came out of their shells to level up with some good attempts but Amas Obasogie was up to the task in goal mouth for Insurance.
Coach Monday Odigie made tactical switch, in the 72nd minute with tripple substitutions, Jude Ebhohon, Vincent Augustus Paul Obatan were substituted for former MFM FC player, Austin Ogunye, Akpos Godness and Evans Ogbonda which eventually changed the complexion of the game to Insurance advantage.
The combined force of the three substitutes paid off when Evans Ogbonda picked up a pass from Stanley Okorom and beat two men before he released the stunner from 25 yards to send the home fans at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium into wild jubilation.
Recall that both teams met twice last season and ended their matches in draws. Insurance FC were forced to a 2-2 draw in the first leg and again forced to a1-1 draw in the revised fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
Bendel Insurance FC will host Plateau Utd on Wednesday in Benin in the match Day Two mid-week fixture.
