Sunshine Stars Head Coach, Edith Agoye, has stated that the goalless draw with Akwa United on Match Day 15 of the Nigeria Premier Football League was a fair result for his team.
Agoye shared his candid opinion after overseeing a grueling stalemate against Akwa United in Eket on Thursday.
Agoye commended his players for securing the point on the road against the highly motivated Akwa United side, who are struggling in the league.
"We played against a very technical team, a team that is well-grounded and knows how to play football. We are very happy with our setup for this game and the response of the players on the field of play.
"We wanted the victory, and we know it wasn't easy. We did our best to take a point, which is good on the road. The opponents wanted it so much.
"We knew the players would want to give a very good account of themselves. We knew that we would be playing against a highly motivated Akwa United.
"The players from Akwa United did their best, but unfortunately, they met a Sunshine Stars that is well-grounded, knows what they want, and went for it.
"A draw is a fair result. It's a very important point for us, considering the fact that we lost two points at home. We are happy to recover the point."
Sunshine Stars will host Doma United in their next league game, while Akwa United will confront Katsina United away.
