2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 13: Akwa Utd FC calls for more home support amidst troubled season

Amidst a troubled season, the 2021/2022 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) winners have called for more home support as they welcome the current league leaders, Lobi Stars, to Eket Stadium for the 2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 13.

The Promise Keepers have been extremely disappointing in the current league campaign, winning just a paltry two games in 12 matches, and occupy the 18th position on the league table.

In a bid to salvage the bad outings when the league leaders come calling, Akwa United has appealed to fans to support the team ahead of their Match Day 13 NPFL game.

The Team Manager of the club, Sir Emmanuel Udoh, while making the passionate appeal, also revealed that the ticket prices for the popular stand have been reduced to Two Hundred Naira only (N=200.00), while tickets for the VIP section and the State box are fixed at Five Hundred Naira and One Thousand Naira Only (N=500.00 and N=1,000.00).

Sir Udoh maintained that the decision to slash the ticket prices was to encourage more fans and supporters to come out en masse and give the club the necessary support it needs to bounce back to winning ways this weekend as they prepare to take on Lobi Stars in Eket.

"Having played 12 matches and still struggling at the wrong end of the table, we know that the season has gone a long way and we have to step up our game by going all out with dedication and determination to ensure we get our season back on track.

"As Managers of Akwa United Football Club, it has become necessary for us to slash the prices of tickets so many of our fans and supporters can have the opportunity to come out en masse to cheer us to victory as we look forward to bringing more glory and honors to the state as we have done in the past.

"We need all the support we can get, and we believe that our fans and supporters who are always there for us will give us the needed backing and encouragement to get us back to winning ways."

Akwa United is 18th on the NPFL log with 11 points from 12 matches, comprising two victories, five draws, and five losses.

The Promise Keepers are unbeaten at home this season, having managed two wins and four draws, scoring five goals and conceding three in six home games.

Additionally, Akwa United's management has reiterated their support for the under-fire head coach, Fatai Osho.

According to reports, the Promise Keepers' management is concerned with the club’s recent form but still trusts in the leadership and structure of the tactician.

For Lobi Stars, there will not be much hassle as they hope to continue their beautiful run in the league.
