2023/2024 NPFL: Match between Plateau Utd, Rivers Utd FC postponed

Posted : 24 November 2023

The management of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) announced on Friday the postponement of the Match Day 10 face-off between Plateau United FC and Rivers United FC. This decision was made as the Pride of Rivers are expected to be involved in a CAF Confederation Cup Group phase match against Angolans, Academica Lobito FC, on Sunday in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, the Peace Boys, after skipping the Match Day 10 fixtures, will be heading to Ikene on Match Day 11 against Remo Stars and will return to Jos with a home tie against Rangers International of Enugu on Match Day 12.

A trip to Minna against Niger Tornadoes and a return to Jos to face Bayelsa United spell out the lineup of fixtures until mid-December 2023 for the Peace Boys.

However, the management of the Peace Boys provided updates on the injury concerns of three of its senior players.

The trio of Saidu Sanusi, Samuel Kalu, and Ahmed Farouk are still sidelined due to injuries.

With the buildup continuing, Plateau United's Saidu Salisu remains out injured after picking up a hamstring injury on Match Day 1 against Shooting Stars SC in Ibadan. According to the Media Officer, Yaksat Maklek, the team's medics say he is close to returning after completing a scan.

Also, since limping off action on Match Day 5 in Gombe, Samuel Kalu's return date still remains sketchy, while Ahmed Farouk Umar's hamstring issue is yet to heal.

Since his booking on match day 6 against Katsina United that earned him the marching orders, Albert Hilary has since fallen to a Malaria bout that set him aside even after serving his suspension but has returned to light training.

``Mundi Bernard's issues with his back following an on-field collision seem to have eased, and he has since returned to training on the grass,'' Maklek said.
