Following a ban on the Dan Ayiam Stadium for its league home matches, Heartland Football Club of Owerri has chosen Awka City Stadium to be the venue for their home fixtures starting from the beginning of the second half of the league season.
The General Manager of the club, Promise Nwachukwu, stated on Thursday that while efforts have been made to ensure that the pitch at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri is in good condition within the shortest period, the club will be using Awka City Stadium as an alternative.
He noted that the new development has been sanctioned by the management of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and Heartland FC expects to face Kano Pillars in Awka in the first game of the second round and their subsequent home games until they return to their natural home ground in Owerri.
Nwachukwu calls on Awka fans to support the club and ensure they create a charged atmosphere in the stadium so that the visitors won't be able to survive their onslaught.
