The Nigeria National League (NNL) Board has decided to postpone the start of the second stanza of the 2023/2024 season to March 1, 2024, contrary to the initially planned date of February 16, 2024. The decision was reached during a meeting held on February 14, 2024, at Nera Hotels in Jabi, Abuja.
The NNL board justified the rescheduling by emphasizing the need for clubs to complete mid-season registrations and conduct medical examinations for their players. Expressing gratitude to NNL Club Owners for their cooperation, the board sought continued support for the remainder of the league season.
Additionally, the board committed to creating a more conducive environment for all forty clubs, aiming to enhance their performance in the league. Special commendation was given to the Super Eagles for their determination, resulting in a runner-up finish at the recently concluded 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d'Ivoire.
Acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bestowing National Awards upon the team, the board also lauded the visionary leadership and support provided by the Nigeria Football Federation to both the team and the NNL.
