2023/2024 NNL: Osun United's Emmanuel Essien Monday talks tough

As Osun United Football Club gears up for the 2023/2024 Nigerian National League (NNL) season opener against Gateway United at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Saturday, all eyes are on the 20-year-old midfield maestro, Emmanuel Essien Monday, who is set to make his debut in the highly anticipated match.

Essien, a key player in Osun United FC’s promotion campaign from the Nationwide League One last season, reassures the club’s fans of a promising journey ahead.

Essien, in an exclusive interview, delivered a message of confidence and determination ahead of the upcoming season, saying he is ready for the actions.

“Our fans should relax; we know what is at stake, and we will do our best to ensure that we gain promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), God willing.”

When pressed further about the team’s readiness for the challenges ahead, Essien said he was optimistic.

“The team is ready. We have been putting in the hard work in training, and the cohesion within the team is splendid.

"Our understanding of each other is better, and the coaches are doing an excellent job nurturing us.

"The team spirit is very high as we look forward to Gateway United’s arrival," he said.
