FC Robo Queens of Lagos are celebrating a last-ditch surge to three points as they defeated the hard-fighting Ekiti Queens 2-0 in the Nigerian Women's Football League (NWFL).
Shade Ijadosu was the day’s heroine at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, and she symbolically led their chants of ecstasy afterward.
Two late goals made a world of difference for Robo in the encounter, and Ijadosu admitted she was delighted to be the one who helped her side climb to third on the league table.
Ijadosu declared with delight: “We tried our best, and we had a lot of chances, but we could not make use of them, especially in the first half.
“But we thank God for giving us another opportunity, and it led to a goal. We were almost giving up, but we thank God for two late goals.
“I also thank my teammates for giving me the opportunity to score. I appreciate their efforts. I’m so happy that I was able to score the goals. I’m so happy.
“This victory means so much because we’ll go up to the third position. We are leaving the fourth position, and with this victory, we look assured of finishing in the Super-6 qualification. We are good to go.”
