2022/2023 NPFL Super 6: Will Rivers Utd consolidate on first win over Sunshine Stars to upset Remo Stars?

The Match Day 2 of the ongoing 2022/20223 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 6 could be an early decider on who will eventually wear the league crown.
For the Match Day 2, table toppers and defending champions of the league, Rivers United FC will seek to consolidate on the game opener win over Sunshine Stars FC of Akure to attempt at dislodging Remo Stars FC that pegged the eight-time league champions, Enyimba International FC at 2-2 draw.
The encounter between Remo Stars and the defending champions, Rivers United will not be an easy one for both teams, with Remo Stars needing a straight win, while another three points for the Pride of Rivers will be an icing on the cake for a six-point lead.
The Stanley Eguma-led team basking in the euphoria of a slim win over Sunshine Stars of Akure, will be counting on the services of their inform striker to do the magic.
Also, Rivers United 's left back, Oluebube Duru will count much to harvest their second 3 points in successive games.
As Rivers United and Remo Stars go head-to-head, Rivers United will hope to continue with impressive start to the NPFL Championship play-off.
A second victory from the opening 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars will further strengthen the Pride of Rivers' quest to picking a continental slot as well as retaining the league title.
However Remo Stars will also have their eye on that prize, having come from behind twice to draw their opening game 2-2 against Enyimba.
Remo Star’s pedigree
Founded in 2004 as FC Dender, the team had a change of name to Remo Stars football club in 2010 after relocating to its current base, Remo land.
They played in the top division of Nigerian football, the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) after promotion in 2016 but was relegated from the NPFL to Nigeria National League in 2018.
In September 2021, Remo Stars secured promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after finishing second in Nigeria National League (NNL) playoff Group.
Last season saw them achieve a third-place finish behind Plateau United and Champions, Rivers United, as well as reached the first round of the CAF Confederation's Cup where they fell to Association Sportive Des Forces Armées Royales, commonly known as AS FAR of Morocco 1-2 on aggregate.

Remo Stars secured a Championship play-off ticket by finishing second in Group A with 9 wins, 6 draws and 3 loses, amassing a total of 33 points.
Stanley Eguma on Remo, said: "Every game has different tactics. Remo Stars is not Sunshine Stars, Enyimba or Insurance, so as they come, we will bring out our tactical plans.

Coach Stanley Eguma will bank on a virtually fully-fit squad to select from with only long-term absentees, Festus, Austin, definitely out.
The visitors are not struggling with any injury, with defender Ifeanyi Anaemena set to be fit for this encounter.
Bankole Kayode is expected to be in goal for the Sky blue team, Adedayo Ojo in midfield and Andy Okpe to lead the attack.
Rivers United have won five of the six meetings between both sides with only the latest meeting ending in a draw.
