2022/2023 NPFL Super 6 playoffs: "My team lost due to fatigue," says Rivers Utd Coach, Eguma

The technical adviser of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, on Monday defended his team's inability to retain the league title they won last year.
Eguma explained that the team was tired and stressed out, which was the reason for their inability to perform optimally.
Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that Rivers United failed to successfully defend the NPFL crown on Sunday after a stalemated 1-1 draw against the now 9-times winners, Enyimba International FC.
Both Rivers United and Enyimba FC are on same point (9), but Rivers United won the coveted N100m prized crown on goals difference.
Eguma noted the missing chances and laid more emphasis on fatigue as the key reason for the outcome.
"We plan to defend our title but unfortunately, we couldn’t, until the last day we had our game plan but we conceded an early goal, we came back in the second half and created a lot of scoring chances but we couldn’t convert.
"But all the same, it is football. I think it was fatigue, wear and tear, which affected the boys. We play matches almost every 48 hours", he said.
