Remo Stars FC of Ikenne reclaimed the top position in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) standings after playing to a goalless draw away at Abia Warriors on Sunday.
Daniel Ogunmodele’s team leads the table with 36 points, the same as second-placed Lobi Stars, but with a superior goal difference.
The Sky Blue Stars were able to silence the boastful Abia Warriors as the match ended 0-0 after intense hostilities.
The Ikenne Boys, however, did enough to hold Abia Warriors to a goalless draw and earned a valuable point on the road.
Abia Warriors' technical crew was forced to make a substitution in the first half at just 26 minutes as newly signed Omaka Fabian came in for Paschal Nwabueze, who was injured.
Abia Warriors came close to scoring in the 45th minute as Ojonugwa Adejoh missed from Megwo Sunday's cross.
Coach Erasmus Onuh also made changes in the 70th minute as Obi Samson and Sagir Musa replaced Omaka Fabian and Meme Okike.
Remo Stars FC were reduced to 10 men as one of their players saw red.
