Two-time league winners, Kano Pillars, resumed the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) second stanza on Saturday with a massive away point against a spineless Heartland FC in Aba.
Recall that the woes of the Naze Millionaires were further compounded as the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri was stripped of its status to host the premier league due to its unplayable turf.
The Naze Millionaires, however, chose to play their home matches at the Enyimba International FC Stadium in Aba. The first match ended in a 1-1 draw against the visiting Sai Masu Gida.
The spoils were shared equally at the Enyimba International Stadium, despite Kano Pillars playing the rest of the match with 10 men after a 73rd-minute red card to goalkeeper Muhammad Galadima, who was sent off for retaliation.
Sai Masu Gida drew first blood against Pillars in the 29th minute via Mustapha Ibrahim's strike. As the match was tilting towards the end with almost a celebration in the camp of Kano Pillars, Heartland FC struck a late-minute equalizer through the acrobatic strike of Malachi Ohawume in the 90th minute.
A 5-minute additional time was given, but nothing could separate both sides. Kano Pillars have successfully extended their unbeaten run to six games.
