Williams Racing Joins Prodigy Racing League, Bridging Virtual, Real-World Racing

Posted : 20 June 2024

Williams Racing, a prominent British Formula 1 team, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with Racing Prodigy to join the Prodigy Racing League (PRL), marking its inaugural participation in the ‘e2Real’ series. This collaboration allows Williams Esports, the team’s virtual racing division, to integrate selected sim-racers into real-world racing environments.

The Prodigy Racing League’s first real-world season is set to kick off in Autumn 2024 in the United States. Williams Esports will select four drivers to represent their four-car PRL team, following a rigorous qualification process involving 32 candidates from 14 countries, aged between 15 and 45. These drivers earned their spots through participation in PRL esports events and subsequent performance at Prodigy Week, Racing Prodigy’s live racing tryouts.

The inaugural Prodigy Draft, where Williams Esports will finalize its team, will be held at Williams’ Esports London Fan Zone on July 6th and streamed live on Racing Prodigy’s YouTube channel. Additionally, Williams will host qualifying competitions at its global Fan Zones in cities like Tokyo, Miami, and Barcelona, offering attendees opportunities to earn spots at Prodigy Week and compete for a place on Williams’ PRL squad.

Selected drivers will receive professional contracts from Racing Prodigy, along with specialized coaching provided by Williams in partnership with PitFit Training, a leading motorsport performance company. This coaching program includes tailored training regimens and access to PitFit’s Human Performance program, ensuring thorough preparation for each race in the Prodigy Racing League.

Williams Racing’s venture into the Prodigy Racing League underscores its commitment to nurturing talent in both virtual and real-world racing, leveraging decades of Formula 1 expertise and a robust esports division. Established in 2018, Williams Esports has previously collaborated with global brands like Gulf Oil International and continues to expand its influence through strategic partnerships and initiatives in the esports community.
