VALORANT Esports Breaks Records with $44.3M in Digital Goods Sales

Posted : 09 December 2024

Leo Faria, the Global Head of VALORANT Esports, has shared that the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) generated $44.3 million (~£34.8 million) in revenue from digital goods for teams in 2024, as revealed in his end-of-year blog post. The post reflected on the business and competitive growth within the VALORANT esports scene throughout the year.

In addition to digital sales, Faria highlighted that the VCT distributed a total of $78.4 million (~£61.4 million) in stipends and prize pools to its 44 partner teams, marking a significant increase from the previous year. The figures underscored the growing financial success of the esports ecosystem surrounding the game.

The year also saw impressive viewership growth across regional and international tournaments. VCT Masters Madrid set a new peak of 3.1 million concurrent viewers, the highest for VALORANT esports at the time. Meanwhile, VCT Masters Shanghai, despite not breaking online viewership records, sold out in just 22 seconds and set a new live attendance record for a VCT event.

The crowning achievement of the season came with VCT Champions Seoul, which recorded a staggering 9.13 million peak viewers, with 44.38 million unique viewers during the Grand Finals—more than five times the audience size from the previous year's event.

This surge in popularity further cemented VALORANT’s status as the most-watched FPS globally and one of the top esports titles, with plans for further expansion in both league structures and global reach in the coming years.
