The United Kingdom Esports Team Committee (UKETC) has made an announcement regarding the exclusion of the Overwatch League franchise London Spitfire from its membership.
According to the UKETC's social media statement, the primary reason for this decision was the franchise's prolonged period of inactivity within the committee. Furthermore, the UKETC informed the public that applications for new members are currently being accepted through its official website.
The UKETC is a non-profit organization comprising prominent esports teams based in the United Kingdom. Presently, the committee consists of 14 members, including renowned teams such as Guild Esports, Fnatic, EXCEL Esports, Endpoint, and MNM Gaming, among others.
Established in 2021, the organization was founded by a group of eight organizations, among which London Spitfire played a significant role as one of the original members.
From its inception, this non-profit entity has developed a set of principles with the objective of advancing the professionalization of the esports industry within the United Kingdom. Additionally, the organization has collaborated with the non-profit organization Play Aid to ensure that all member teams have access to psychological first aiders.
