A significant agreement between the British esports organization Tundra Esports and PSG Esports, the esports arm of French football juggernaut Paris Saint-Germain, will result in the formation of a new Rocket League squad.
According to a news release, the new squad, known as PSG Tundra, wants to enter into the world elite by developing a Rocket League division that is competitive.
The new squad is the most recent joint venture between PSG Esports and another esports organization. Along with their partnership with Tundra for Rocket League, PSG also collaborates with Team New Age for Fortnite, LGD in Dota 2, and Talon Esports for League of Legends, among other collaborations (PSG Talon).
This month, the latter contract with PSG Talon was extended for an additional three years.
The French football team has previously entered the Rocket League scene. From 2017 until 2019, PSG Esports had a competitive lineup.
Although Tundra is primarily known for its Dota 2 roster and has experience in the Rocket League scene, the company won the world championship for the game (The International) in 2022.
Fabien Allègre, the Chief Brand Officer of Paris Saint-Germain, offered his thoughts on the news: “We are delighted to be back in Rocket League, one of the most popular games in the world.
“We are anxious to see the PSG Tundra team succeed. In putting together our team Paris Saint-Germain is looking to make the most of its presence in Europe and to continue its expansion. Thanks to the PSG Tundra team, the club now has seven Esports teams.”
Since 2022, Tundra Esports has participated in Rocket League competitions after purchasing the Top Blokes roster, however the team has not yet qualified for an RLCS Split Major. Tundra boasts prominent rosters in Fortnite and FIFA in addition to Dota 2.
There is still no word on more details, including who will play for PSG Tundra.
