Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, has officially launched his esports organization, TC Esports. The venture will focus initially on the sim racing scene, although specific details about its rosters or the competitions it will participate in are yet to be revealed. This new endeavor builds on Courtois's growing interest in the esports and motorsports industries, as he continues to expand his portfolio beyond professional football.
The creation of TC Esports follows the 2023 debut of TC Racing, Courtois's real-life racing team that competes in the F4 Spanish Championship. TC Racing also participates in the Prodigy Racing League, a unique competition that blends simulation and real-world racing. Courtois himself is no stranger to simulation racing, having competed in high-profile events such as Formula 1's Virtual Grand Prix during the COVID-19 pandemic, which featured both professional drivers and celebrity participants.
Javier Guerra, the former head of Williams Esports, has joined the TC Racing project as its Director of Marketing & Gaming. Guerra’s extensive experience in managing esports teams is expected to bolster the organization’s strategy and growth. Speaking on his decision to launch TC Esports, Courtois expressed his passion for sim racing, sharing how his experiences and personal interest inspired him to create a team that bridges esports with the world of motorsports.
Courtois is not new to the esports scene, having been an investor in Spanish organization DUX Gaming since 2020. His latest venture places him alongside other prominent footballers like Gerard Piqué, Sergio Agüero, and Casemiro, who have also founded their own esports organizations. With TC Esports, Courtois further cements his presence in the industry while exploring opportunities in the rapidly evolving intersection of gaming and motorsports.
