French esports organization Team Vitality has partnered with supermarket chain ALDI to launch a campaign aimed at addressing toxicity toward women and promoting diversity within the esports community. This initiative features a compelling video in which Team Vitality players, alongside notable figures, share their experiences with misogyny in gaming and esports, highlighting the challenges faced by women in the industry.
The video, titled "Des Failles dans La Faille" (Rifts in the Rift), includes contributions from players on the Rising Bees roster, such as Velouria “Viki” Baty, Madison “Crowmac” Coutelet, and Alena “Tifa” Maurer, along with TV host Marie Polet, League of Legends caster Nox, and Team Vitality's Director of Esports, Anne Banschbach.
Throughout the video, participants read and respond to hateful messages that include body shaming and threats, discussing how such abuse has become normalized and its impact on their mental health and gaming performance. To balance the negativity, the video also features positive messages, underscoring Team Vitality and ALDI's commitment to promoting a culture of positivity and support.
ALDI has been a strong supporter of Team Vitality’s women’s League of Legends team since its formation in February 2023, having first partnered with the organization in 2021. Earlier this year, the women's roster underwent a rebranding from French Bees to Rising Bees, welcoming bank Crédit Agricole as a main partner, which had previously supported Vitality since 2020. This ongoing collaboration highlights both companies' dedication to fostering a more inclusive environment in esports.
Team Vitality is renowned for its competitive teams in games like League of Legends and Counter-Strike, with the latter recently securing a partnership with the case-opening platform Skin.Club. In addition to ALDI, other partners of Team Vitality include the Web3 company Tesoz, and ice cream brands Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s. Earlier this year, the organization also signed a three-year agreement with Danish sportswear brand hummel, becoming its official sports apparel partner and match jersey provider.
