Multinational esports organization Team Liquid has revealed its partnership with The Scholars, a collegiate esports awards ceremony set to take place in Las Vegas this November. Team Liquid's involvement will see them presenting the 'Good in Gaming' award, a category focusing on diversity and inclusivity within the esports and gaming sphere.
The Scholars is a collegiate esports awards ceremony initiated by the Esports Awards, a leading awards show in the esports industry. The inaugural event is scheduled to occur just prior to the Esports Awards at the same venue on November 27th and 28th, with its primary focus on celebrating contributors to collegiate esports.
The 'Good in Gaming' award, presented by Team Liquid, will recognize individuals or organizations that have made significant efforts in promoting diversity and inclusivity within collegiate gaming. The award aims to honor those who have improved the representation of underrepresented groups, contributed to elevating diverse stories and voices, and played a role in implementing progressive policies within the industry.
Nominees for this category include individuals like Jacquie Lamm, Co-Founder of Esports and Coffee, the non-profit organization Cxmmunity, Cora Kennedy, Director of Esports at Illinois Wesleyan University, Eugene Frier, Director of Esports & Gaming and Adjunct Professor of Esports at Texas Wesleyan University, Chris Turner, Director of the Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming and Esports Institute at Southern University Law Center, as well as Dr. Sarah Hays, a therapist at Save Point Behavioral Health, and Dr. Kishonna Gray, an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky.
Team Liquid joins the ranks of esports organizations partnering with The Scholars, with Gen.G, another global esports brand, set to present the 'Global Impact of The Year Award' in recognition of those supporting the growth of the collegiate esports industry.
Michael Ashford, CEO of the Esports Awards, expressed, "The Good in Gaming Award stands as a symbol of our collective commitment to celebrate and honor the outstanding efforts and contributions of those fostering a more diverse and inclusive gaming community."
