Swiss esports organization Team BDS has unveiled plans for a new tournament called "Take the Throne," which will take place during the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) off-season. The event aims to showcase some of the world's top Rocket League teams and is set to become one of the largest esports tournaments ever held in Switzerland. Scheduled for November in Geneva, the competition will feature eight teams competing for an undisclosed prize pool.
Team BDS is renowned for its achievements in Rocket League, having won the RLCS World Championship in both 2022 and 2024, as well as the Esports World Cup in 2024. Despite its illustrious history, the organization made headlines recently by selling its entire roster after the 2024 RLCS World Championship. In a statement, Team BDS indicated its intention to reassess its investment and strategy within the RLCS.
While Team BDS is starting anew in the Rocket League esports scene, it remains committed to tournament organization. "Take the Throne" will be held on November 23, 2024, at the historic Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, which features a 1,000-seat auditorium. Although the prize pool has yet to be disclosed, Team BDS has promised that this event will be the largest professional esports tournament in Switzerland’s history. The tournament will invite six teams, while two additional local and regional teams will earn their spots through open qualifiers.
