An additional round of funding of $16 million (£12.9 million) spearheaded by venture capital firm Lightbox has been announced for Indian esports and gaming content platform Rooter.
The investment round, which combines loan and equity financing, will be utilised to expand the business and strengthen its technological capabilities.
Aiming to provide a platform similar to Twitch but for mobile games, Rooter is one of the most well-known streaming and gaming sites in India.
Rooter claims that the firm would utilize the money to improve customer experience on its platform, hone its product line, and bolster its technological skills. Additionally, it will be looking for ways to develop internationally and in new markets, including possible strategic acquisitions.
Additionally, the money will be utilized to collaborate with Indian esports teams and organizations and with technological partners that can assist Rooter's infrastructure grow. One of the biggest esports organizations in India, GodLike Esports, has Rooter as a partner.
