Skyesports and Loco partner to bring 2023 Skyesports Champions Series to Loco
Posted : 11 June 2023
Indian esports company Skyesports has formed a partnership with Loco, a popular platform for esports and gaming streaming. The collaboration will bring the 2023 edition of the Skyesports Champions Series to Loco's platform.
Loco will have exclusive rights to broadcast the ten-day Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) tournament, taking place from June 9th to June 18th. The tournament features competing BGMI teams vying for a prize pool of INR 25 Lakhs (~£24,164).
This collaboration marks one of the early BGMI tournaments to be streamed on Loco following the game's return to the Indian market in May 2023. The game had previously been removed from the market due to concerns surrounding developer KRAFTON's association with Chinese conglomerate Tencent.
Loco and Skyesports have a history of partnering to organize tournaments in India. In 2020, they joined forces to host the Skyesports Grandslam event, which featured competitions in popular games like Rainbow Six Siege and Clash of Clans.
Loco has been steadily establishing itself as a prominent streaming platform in India, attracting a growing user base. In March 2022, the platform successfully raised approximately $42 million (INR 330 Crores) through a Series A funding round, further solidifying its position in the market.
