Second season of eFIBA expands with 61 federations participating in NBA 2K24 tournament

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and esports company ESL FACEIT Group have unveiled details for the second season of eFIBA, FIBA's official esports competition using NBA 2K24.
 
The second season boasts participation from 61 federations, more than doubling the number from the previous season, and representing 28% of all basketball federations worldwide.
 
The collaboration between ESL FACEIT Group and FIBA began in early 2023 with the announcement of the first season of eFIBA. Their partnership has since grown, with a primary focus on the eFIBA competition.
 
The second season witnesses an expansion from 30 to 61 federations, including 26 from Europe, 14 from Africa, six from North America, five from Southeast Asia, four from South America, four from the Middle East, and two from Oceania. The new season will kick off in early October with Regional Qualifiers.
 
The eFIBA second season finals are scheduled during DreamHack Winter, taking place from November 25th to 26th in Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden. Teams from each regional final and two European nations will compete for a share of the €50,000 (~£43,000) prize pool. This marks the first in-person eFIBA finals event.
 
Roger Lodewick, President of Sports Games at ESL FACEIT Group, expressed enthusiasm, citing the substantial growth in participating National Federations and positive feedback from players and the community. He believes eFIBA is on the right path to become a significant offering in the NBA2K community. The partnership aims to provide an innovative sporting concept that connects with esports enthusiasts and basketball fans.
 
Furthermore, FIBA and the EFG have announced co-streams of the eFIBA, granting creators unprecedented access to gameplay feeds, overlays, interview opportunities, and more.
