Posted : 10 July 2023
Indian esports and gaming content platform, Rooter, has announced a partnership with Jio, the country's largest mobile network operator. Through this collaboration, Jio's set-top-box (JioSTB) customers will be able to access Rooter's esports and gaming content directly on their televisions.
This partnership marks Rooter as the first app in its category to be featured on the JioStore ecosystem by integrating with JioSTB.
Rooter is a popular streaming and gaming platform in India that aims to create a mobile game-focused platform similar to Twitch. By integrating with JioSTB, Rooter aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality domestic content and expand its presence beyond the Android, iOS, and web ecosystems. This collaboration allows Rooter to leverage Jio's rapidly growing set-top box services.
Earlier this year, Rooter raised $16 million in a funding round led by venture capital firm Lightbox. This funding will support the advancement of the company's technology framework and explore organic and inorganic growth prospects.
Rooter has previously formed partnerships with prominent Indian esports organizations such as GodLike Esports and OR Esports and supported the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS) during the 2022 season.
Dipesh Agarwal, Co-founder and COO of Rooter, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting Jio's position as one of India's fastest-growing broadband services. He stated that Rooter's goal is to drive India's gaming revolution and become the go-to game streaming and esports platform.
Agarwal believes that the partnership with Jio will enable millions of viewers to access Rooter's extensive library of gaming and esports content conveniently on their TV screens.
