Rocket League and eFootball selected for European Games Esports Championships
Posted : 23 May 2023
The European Games Esports Championships have received fresh information, according to the Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the European Olympic Committees (EOC).
Competitors from all around Europe will participate in eFootball 2023 and Rocket League at the Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Poland in June of this year.
This is the first esports event to take place during the third European Games, which are being hosted in Kraków and the Maopolska area of Poland.
The competitions will be held at the Katowice International Congress Center, a venue well-known for hosting IEM events and for having a rich esports history.
The GEF also revealed the dates for the GEFestival and GEFcon in addition to the competitions. The GEFcon is envisioned as a conference of "thinking leaders and idea makers" in business, esports, and technology. The GEFestival will be a B2C event with an emphasis on gaming, music, and entertainment.
The European Games Esports Championships continue to highlight the fusion of esports and conventional athletic events with the International Olympic Committee's first-ever Olympic Esports Week in Singapore.
The games that will be played during the Olympic Esports Week have received some criticism, although the EGE Championships programme includes two well-known esports games.
