RLCS 2024 Major 2 London Achieves Top Viewership, G2 Stride Claims Victory

Posted : 25 June 2024

The RLCS 2024 Major 2 in London marked a significant milestone as it became the sixth most-watched event in RLCS history, achieving a peak viewership of 311,595, according to Esports Charts. Held at London’s Copper Box Arena, the event maintained viewer interest similar to last year's RLCS Spring Split Major.

Over its nearly 32-hour runtime, the London Major averaged 93,141 viewers, making it the third BLAST-operated esports event in the UK within three weeks. Following the highly successful first 2024 RLCS Major in March, which remains one of the top Rocket League events to date, the London Major showcased intense competition culminating in a victory for G2 Stride, the Rocket League division of G2 Esports. They defeated Team Falcons from Saudi Arabia in the Grand Final.

Despite G2 Stride’s triumph, they ranked fourth in popularity based on hours watched, with Team Falcons leading with 959,000 hours. French-language platforms attracted the most viewers, reaching a peak of 155,751, followed closely by English-language broadcasts with 141,915 peak viewers. Twitch continued to dominate as the preferred streaming platform for RLCS, achieving a peak viewership of 271,177, significantly outpacing YouTube's peak of 34,328.

While not reaching the viewership heights of the first Major this year, the London RLCS Major's performance comparable to last year's Spring Split is a positive indicator for BLAST as they continue to develop and expand the RLCS circuit.
