Riot Games, the game publisher, has introduced a new virtual boy group called HEARTSTEEL, inspired by League of Legends. This group features six virtual members, four of whom will be voiced by artists Baekhyun, ØZI, Tobi Lou, and Cal Scruby, each portraying versions of League of Legends champions. The group aims to blend various musical genres and eras to create a unique identity. Their debut single, "PARANOIA," is set for release on October 23rd.
The members of HEARTSTEEL include Ezreal, Sett, Tobi Lou K’Sante, and Kayn, all represented by the mentioned artists. Additionally, League of Legends characters Yone and Aphelios are part of the group, with Yone listed as the 'producer' and Aphelios as the 'instrumentalist and songwriter.' Riot Games is no stranger to virtual music groups, having previously launched K/DA, Pentakill, and True Damage.
Baekhyun, a member of global K-pop group EXO, is one of the prominent figures in this new group, alongside Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter ØZI, Los Angeles-based rapper Cal Scruby, and Tobi Lou, a versatile artist with a background in hip-hop, R&B, and pop.
Riot Games' Global Head of Music & Events, Maria Egan, expressed excitement about bringing HEARTSTEEL to life, emphasizing the deep collaboration between in-house creative teams and new artists in creating this musical project. This debut coincides with a busy period for League of Legends, with the ongoing 2023 World Championships and the anthem for the event performed by K-pop group NewJeans.
