Riot Games has released the latest team rankings for the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) team capsules, which were introduced earlier this year. The rankings were unveiled during the VCT Champions event in Seoul, South Korea. As of August 2024, the UK-based esports organization Fnatic leads the VCT EMEA rankings, followed by the French teams Gentle Mates and Karmine Corp. In the VCT Americas region, Sentinels tops the chart, with Leviatán and G2 Esports securing the second and third spots, respectively.
The team capsules, which are in-game cosmetic bundles launched in February, will be available for purchase until September 12th, two weeks after the conclusion of the tournament. Each capsule includes a Classic skin, an exclusive gun buddy, a spray set, and a custom player card created in collaboration with the 44 VCT partner teams. Riot Games has not disclosed the exact sales figures for each team but aims to boost revenue for esports organizations through these sales.
The VCT capsules are part of Riot Games' strategy to diversify income sources for esports teams. Last year's profit-sharing VCT bundles generated $33 million, with each participating team receiving an average of over $1 million.
For the VCT Pacific region, Singapore's Paper Rex leads the rankings, followed by Korea's T1 and Japan's ZETA Division. In the newly introduced VCT CN region, EDward Gaming is the top seller, with BiliBili Gaming and Trace Esports in second and third place, respectively.
In addition to the capsule rankings, VCT Champions has achieved a peak viewership of 653,468 and an average viewership of 376,964, according to Esports Charts. Although these numbers are lower compared to last year's viewership, they are expected to rise significantly as teams progress to the playoffs stage.
