Riot Games has revealed that Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok will be the first inductee into the Hall of Legends, a new Hall of Fame dedicated to League of Legends esports. This announcement comes in collaboration with car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, as part of several initiatives to honor Faker's remarkable career both in and out of the game.
To celebrate Faker’s induction, Riot Games will host a special in-game event. This event will include an event pass that takes players through significant moments of Faker’s career. Fans will also have the opportunity to earn and purchase in-game cosmetic items themed around Faker and his journey in League of Legends, highlighting his contributions to the game and his status as a legendary player.
The Hall of Legends, first introduced in January 2024, is designed to honor those who have significantly impacted the League of Legends scene. Faker’s selection as the inaugural inductee was made by an independent voting panel comprising esports industry veterans and experts. In addition to the in-game celebrations, Mercedes-Benz will create an art piece commemorating Faker’s achievements and gift him a custom Mercedes-AMG SL 63.
Mercedes-Benz, a global partner of League of Legends esports since 2020, has sponsored four consecutive World Championships and collaborated on various initiatives, such as the 2021 Worlds Championship rings. More details about the in-game event and Mercedes-Benz awards will be announced in the coming weeks.
Faker, who debuted in 2013 and has become one of the most recognized names in esports, has achieved tremendous success with T1, winning multiple LCK titles, Mid-Season Invitational titles, and Worlds Championships, solidifying his legacy as 'The Unkillable Demon King.'
