PlayVS has teamed up with the NFL to launch the Madden NFL Youth Championship (MYC), marking the first youth esports tournament within the Madden series. This new initiative will feature four qualifying tournaments and two LAN finals, aiming to engage middle and high school students across the U.S. in competitive esports.
The collaboration between PlayVS, a scholastic esports organization, and the NFL is designed to provide a structured competitive platform for young gamers. PlayVS will oversee the tournament logistics, including team management, scheduling, and brackets, making it easier for participants to compete and engage in the event.
The MYC will unfold in two segments, with Fall qualifiers in October and November, leading to a championship at the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games in Orlando. Winter qualifiers will be held in February and March, culminating in finals during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay. Winners from each segment will earn trips to these high-profile NFL events.
Ed Kiang from the NFL emphasized the tournament's alignment with their mission to connect with young fans and promote football through engaging platforms. The MYC is designed to help students develop key skills while offering them memorable experiences at major NFL events, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm for the game.
