PlayVS, Emerge Apparel collaborate, offer ecommerce for high school esports leagues

Posted : 09 August 2023
PlayVS, the North American amateur esports platform, has forged a strategic alliance with Emerge Apparel, a prominent esports apparel brand. Emerge Apparel will assume the role of the official provider of ecommerce and merchandise for PlayVS high school esports leagues in the forthcoming academic year. Participating schools will not only have the opportunity to design and offer their own merchandise but will also receive a portion of the proceeds from every sale.

PlayVS, operating within the North American domain, administers esports leagues tailored for high schools. They orchestrate scholastic esports competitions in games such as League of Legends, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. The company is active across all 50 states in the United States as well as Canada.

Emerge Apparel is a specialist enterprise focused on crafting customized esports apparel for both sports and esports teams. This affiliation empowers teams to curate personalized merchandise and establish an online storefront on the Emerge Apparel platform for merchandise sales. As part of their collaboration with PlayVS, Emerge Apparel extends the opportunity for all interested high schools to conceptualize and vend their merchandise through their designated website.

Moreover, Emerge Apparel's groundbreaking revenue-sharing initiative, encompassing a 50% profit-sharing model, affords schools the means to secure funding for their esports initiatives and support their players. The company also collaborates with renowned sports brands like Champion, Nike, and Under Armour to tailor merchandise to individual preferences.

In the past, PlayVS encountered criticism regarding its operations in the collegiate esports arena. Following the exit of their former CEO Delane Parnel, the company appointed Jon Chapman as CEO in June 2023.

Matthew Worsman, the founder of Emerge Apparel, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It’s a pleasure to team up with PlayVS who we know takes the same approach in providing a premium experience within competitive youth esports. We look to build off of that foundation to provide yet another level of value to the schools within their network."
